Child's name, age and what he's into these days:
Cason, 28 months, loves anything and everything relating to transportation.

We understand that your husband is active duty Air Force, was he in the military when you met?
Jason was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base when we met. I was going to school at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.

What's the hardest part about having your husband in the Air Force and how do you stay connected when he's gone?
The hardest part about Jason being gone is lack of security. Jason is calm, carefree, relaxed and I can be a catastrophizer (imagining the worst possible in any situation). When he is gone, he isn't there to be the voice of common sense or reason. While he is deployed I have a general feeling of anxiety, even though his job is relatively "safe" you can never be too sure. We stay connected by having date nights once a week when he is deployed and Skype. Other days we e-mail or have phone calls. The date nights allow us to see each other and know that we are okay and one week closer to his return.

For us non-military families, what is the best way for us to show you our support?
The best way to show support is to be supportive. If you know someone who has a spouse who is deployed call them up, shoot them an e-mail, offer to take them to lunch/dinner, watch their kid(s) for a few hours. It is amazing how much that means to us. Or support our loved ones by sending a care package or letter. For Jason, knowing that I have a solid support system makes it easier for him to focus on his job and for me, I love hearing how his voice changes when he tells me he received a letter or package from someone.

Why do you love Itzy Ritzy?
I love Itzy Ritzy because of how awesome your products are and at a reasonable price. They are durable and fashionable at the same time!

What's the best mom trick you have up your sleeve?
A little goofiness can go along way, at least with Cason. If he is starting to have a meltdown I will start doing some funny faces, sing a funny song with some wacky hand gestures, or do some funky dance moves and he will almost immediately start laughing. It helps us avoid a meltdown and we are able to focus on something else!

What's one of your favorite summer activities to do with your family?
We really enjoy doing anything involving water, whether it is the beach, pool, or sprinklers.

What's your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is reading books late into the night.

What's something on your future "must-do" list?
I would really like to attend a summer or winter Olympics opening ceremony as well as some of the games.

What's something that not many people know about you?
I played Division 1 golf for Gonzaga University my freshman year of college.

Thank you for sharing, Catherine.
We wish you and your family the best!

xoxo, Itzy Ritzy
